For a couple of months, I bombarded you with a lot of my ‘shipping’ thoughts andfanarts of We Got Married Global’s HONGMINA. I apologize to HongMina shippers because I haven’t posted entries about our Daramji couple anymore. I just became super preoccupied with my new job.
Anyways, this is going to be my first entry for 2014 and it is going to be about my latest addiction, SLEEPY HOLLOW!
I’m actually a big TIM BURTON fan and ‘Sleepy Hollow’ (the movie) was the one who turned me into his fan. I really really love the movie, so when I first heard they are going to turn it into a series, I just said, “Oh no, another unoriginal idea that might BUTCHER one of my fave movies.” You can’t blame me for being skeptical because most of the shows and movies, in the US (also in the Phil), are just remaking old and successful concepts; so when the Sleepy Hollow series came out, I just flatly IGNORED it.
A few months have passed by, I got addicted with WGMG and became an active Daramji Del, got busy with my new career, and then I got bored. I’ve watched a couple of movies and listen to all sorts of music to keep my mind inspired and creative, but, NOTHING CLICKED. However, I remembered an article in YAHOO (thank you for writing something RELEVANT) about the TV flops and hits of 2013, in which SLEEPY HOLLOW was mentioned being one of the hot new series.
Last December 2013, during my Xmas and New Year vacation, I decided to watch the first adventure of Mr. Ichabod Crane and ‘Leftenant’ Abigail Mills, AND I WAS IMMEDIATELY HOOKED! I started watching it around 9:00 pm and I finished it around 7:00 am! My PANDA eyes came back, but I didn’t mind being a SLEEPYHEAD! I just couldn’t stop talking, thinking, and blogging (on my Tumblr) SLEEPY HOLLOW! I even watch AFTERBUZZ on YouTube just to satisfy my SLEEPY CRAVING!
PS. I rarely listen to podcasts, but I came to love AFTERBUZZ thru Sleepy Hollow ^^
Great job Matt, Jacque and Stephen!
***
So, anyways, here are the things why I love Sleepy Hollow.
1. The ‘silly moments’ are very witty. My ultimate fave one is when Ichabod had a heart to heart talk with ‘Yolanda. For me, it’s one of the scenes in Sleepy Hollow that really dig a grave in my memory. It’s very surprising and hilarious! It’s very interesting to watch how Ichabod reacts to the wonders of the 21stcentury.
2. Well written script. I just love the lines that each character says. It’s very quotable. He he he…
3. The chemistry between ICHABBIE is astounding! I’m officially shipping this ship! I don’t really in-your-face-love story, I like to see how 2 characters, who are not mutually attracted, to slowly open up and trust each other. Yeah, I know that ship is not CANON but I can’t help to LOVE IT! I do hope it will be canon 😛
I just love how they care about each other, but you also know it’s not ‘love love’ because our Mr. Time traveler is still deeply in love with his wife. Ichabod is not a douche, and like what Orlando Jones said, “Crane is a man of principle.” Given this reason, I will patiently wait for Ichabbie 😛
Moreover, the creators of Sleepy Hollow like to tease the audience for giving these cute Ichabbie moments; they themselves can’t even deny the electrifying chemistry between Beharie and Mison! I mean, those 2 are just FREAKING LOOKING at each other, but it’s already making the fangirls SQUEEL! I love their simple, yet, sweet moments.
Making-out is so overrated. If you can make people SHIP, without even showing-off super smoochie scenes, well bro, you have found your perfect pair.
4. It’s very informative. I never really like history, but watching Sleepy Hollow engaged me to be interested in what happened in the past; moreover, the topic about witches, demons, and unsolved cases, such as Virginia White, are quite intriguing to know.
5. Wonderful cast.
6. Tom Mison is the perfect Ichabod. His striking looks and British accent just melt my heart.
7. Abbie Mills is no damsel in distress. She does not need to rely on anyone to get her job done. And despite her tough exterior, she has a soft heart.
8. Straight forward storytelling. I never get bored with watching every episode of Sleepy Hollow because it’s condensed and fast paced.
9. Great wardrobe! I know many of you want to see Ichabod change his clothes, I do too, but, it’s already an iconic look. I’m afraid if he alters his looks, it would just feel weird. Do you guys remember the show FELICITY? When the actress changed her signature hairstyle, many said that the show kind of lost its charming point.
10. It is not a copycat of Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. If people ask me which do I think is better, I could not possibly answer it because they are very different from each other. Watch them both and you’ll know what I mean.
So what do you guys think? What turned you into a SLEEPYHEAD?

Hello my dear READERS! I’ve decided to write my thoughts about HongMina’s We Got Married Global: Episode 11, since I already finished writing 9 and 10. This chapter is one of my favorites because Hong Ki and Mina got to know each other in a much deeper level; their argument, in episode 10, helped their relationship to mature and made them more considerate with each other.
EPISODE 11
The second night of their honeymoon was the opening scene in this chapter. It was indeed undeniable that our daramji couple was very exhausted, from the activities they have done that day; not to mention, the argument that rocked their splendid honeymoon.
Even though they were tired, the couple made most of their time; hence, our dear Hongstar decided to ‘officially’ use his Mina-Coupons. Upon hearing this suggestion, Mina was very excited and eager to finally grant her husband’s wish.
Hong Ki asked for a foot massage; even though his other half does not know how to do it, Mina gleefully agreed to do so.
In the end, HongMina ended up massaging each other’s feet. Then, our witty Hong-chan discovered Mina’s weakness— her feet are very ticklish—which amused him very much.
Later on, the two of them unleashed their competitive personalities by making a bet. This time our dear Hong-chan won!
After that, Hong Ki gave Mina an additional freebie, a hand massage. It seemed like Mina has already forgotten the heartrending feelings, caused by the disagreement that happened between her and Hong Ki.
***
Anyways, let’s jump off to another show for a moment. I watched this drama called NAIL SHOP PARIS. The characters are nail artists and one of the services they offer was a hand massage. Usually they massage the hand of their customers before they start doing nail art.
I immediately remembered HK and made me think, “Oooh! Maybe that’s why he seemed really good at massaging Mina’s hand!”
***
Let’s now go back to our Daramji couple!
Even though he was laughing and enjoying his bonding time with his wife — this is so far my ‘own’ perspective— I still felt that Hong Ki was not able to abandon his guilt; he still seemed a bit depressed for making Mina cry.
Hong Ki wanted to please his other half; hence, doing activities which were all in her favor: officially using the coupons, giving her a foot massage, massaging her hands and also letting her be 2 years younger. xD
Hong Ki chose action over words, in order to express his sincere apology to his dearest Mina.
***
Okay let’s go to another show again xD Have you watched LOVELY COMPLEX? It’s one of my favorite anime! Anyways, the reason I mentioned this show is because Mina’s situation kind of reminded me of the heroine in LC. Mina is very concerned about the age gap between her and HK. Having a younger guy as her partner is very new to her; hence, she’s still worried about it, which I think is not a big deal. But you know, you are not going to be concerned about it if you don’t fancy that person.
In Mina’s case, “could it be because you’ve fallen for a guy who’s younger than you?” Okay enough of my SUPER DELUSIONAL MODE. Let’s resume to discussing EP 11 of WGMG xD
***
After letting Mina to be his ‘dongsaeng,’ Hong ki finally demonstrates his middle-school-antic as his concluding treat.
Lucky for our dear Hong-chan, Mina is an innocent, elegant lady who is unaware with such tricks; hence, making him succeed in performing his ‘magic trick.’ His wife was very much impressed that only a “WHOAAH” could only describe her feeling. Mina then told her husband that the ‘twinge,’ which she felt in the magic trick, felt good and it −somehow− feels like the same twinge she experienced when she first met him; this statement just puts a shy smile on Hong Ki’s chubby face (he he he ). In addition, to know she’s not sailing the ship alone, Mina boldly asked Hong Ki if he also feels the “WHOAAH” feeling whenever they are together −very much to her surprise− he bashfully confessed that he does.
***
The night has ended and the last day of the honeymoon awaits our Daramji couple. HongMina took a walk on the dock, while Hong-chan pretends to be a reporter again.
After that role play, Mina asked for another wish, which is a shoulder-ride, to her husband; it was a wish that quite stunned him. Hong Ki seemed to be unwilling to this request but I guess he still hasn’t recovered from the Kayak incident; hence, he continues to redeem himself by pleasing his wife.
I guess Hong Ki does not like activities that make him tired. Watching this episode takes me back to EP 2 where our little groom, almost, did not fulfill his wife’s first wish and that is a piggyback ride. The only reason why he gave in to Mina’s suggestion is because she might get the wrong idea about Korean men. Nevertheless, on the first day of their honeymoon, HongMina are really getting comfortable with each other, which is why –I guess− Hong Ki finally had the guts to reject his other half’s piggyback request.
Anyways, the couple then proceeded to the yacht where they ‘pretended’ to be pirates and imitated, AGAIN, the famous ‘Rose-Jack-I’m-Flying-Scene.’ xD
Mina and Hong Ki shared a lot of sweet moments in the yacht and there was a particular scene that caught my eye, in which, I know I’m not alone, and I also know that many of you have said “YAHADA” at that part.
Hong-chan really does LOVE skinship. xD
Okay, okay, enough of YAHADA, and let’s further discuss our couple’s deeper feelings. Our Daramji couple seemed to be really enjoying their time in the yacht; however, to truly experience the essence of Okinawa, they need to take a plunge and enjoy its clear water. Hong Ki and Mina first tried ridding the PEANUT BOAT; it was a ride that perfectly fits Hong-chan’s character, while it was in contrast with his wife’s personality.
I really like this part because we witnessed Mina to almost lose her temper. She’s always been patient and tries her best to understand her childish husband, but in this part, her true emotions just popped out!
Because of this thrilling activity, the two of them finally understood each other.
Following that ride that almost caused Mina’s mental breakdown, our Daramji couple finally decided to jump in the vast sea of Okinawa; however, Mina was a bit hesitant to do so because it’s cold; hence, Hong Ki suggested that they should jump after the count of three. Once again, Mina knows her husband’s playful ways and thus did not jump into the water after the count of three. Just like her prediciton, Hong Ki tried to outwit her but failed to beat her instincts. The two of them just ended up having an awkward laugh.
A bittersweet conclusion of our Daramji couple’s honeymoon has finally come. While walking on the American inspired street on ‘Depot Island,’ Hong Ki and Mina also went to buy some souvenirs. Thankfully, shopping is an activity that they both like; hence, no more pressure, just pure fun.
Upon noticing the rack of scented candles, Hong ki told his wife that he recently bought some of those candles. He then chose, among the ones on the shelf, the candle that shares the same scent to his room; much to his surprise, Mina decided to buy the same candle because she said that she likes its fragrance.
Furthermore, our Daramji couple went on to continue their shopping escapade.
In this part, I’m just wondering why he asked Mina to buy his underpants, any ideas anyone? xD
When they were about to pay for the items they have chosen, Hong Ki again told Mina that the scented candle she bought really smells good and it’s the scent of his room; he also asked her AGAIN if she likes that kind of smell. Once again, Mina answered “yes” and explained her thoughts about her husband’s scent.
This is actually one of my favorite parts of WGMG because it felt INTIMATE. In addition, watching this episode brought back some of my memories of ‘the first time I remembered someone’s particular scent.’ For me, SCENT is a very powerful sense. People will usually remember what you look like, but it’s rare to find someone that will KEEP your SCENT in their memory. If you could be able to remember the certain smell of someone, you must have spent quite some time ‘being close with each other’ or you just really fancy that person; when you like someone, you would try to remember, as much as possible, everything about him or her. However, having a PUNGENT perfume could also be one of the reasons why a person is remembered by his/her scent. xD
In Mina’s case, of course, it’s not the last one that I mentioned. She was notably in high spirits, yet quite shy, in mentioning Hong ki’s scent. She really seemed like a girl who has fallen in love.
On the other hand, when Hong-chan heard his wife’s confession about his scent, instead of being flattered or happy, he admitted that he felt a bit sad.
Although this part made my heart sunk, in my opinion, this is one of Hong ki’s memorable confessions in the black room. Indeed I felt sad on this part; however, in a good way. Seeing Hong Ki’s sad face just made me go “aaaaaawwwww” and I wanted to give him a hug. I have a couple of theories why he felt that way.
1. Maybe he realized that Mina is getting really attached to him, and if the day comes that they need to separate, it would be harder for his wife to do so beacuse she easily gets hurt.
2. Maybe he is thinking of their ‘time limit,’ given that Mina was talking about memories. I don’t know, but talking about ‘remembering someone’ sounds like a farewell to me.
3. Maybe he realized their distance. While he is in Korea, she’s in Japan. If ever he would be in Japan, he would be on tour; whereas, Mina is getting some projects in Korea. The only time they could be really together is when they are shooting WGMG. All they’ve got are their memories, when they are apart.
OKAY PEOPLE THROW SALT TO ME!!! xD THIS IS MY BLOG AND I’M JUST VOICING OUT MY DELUSIONS….. IF YOU DON’T LIKE WHAT YOU READ, GET OUT OF THIS PAGE xD
Anyways, let’s go back. I’m not really sure of Hong Ki’s reasons, and if you have a different theory about it, please don’t hesitate to make a comment. I would love to hear your opinion about it. ^^
***
Shopping galore is already finished; thus, our Daramji couple decided to relax and drink some pearl tea (I think). As usual, Hong-chan was getting playful again, which caught Mina’s attention.
After the mini exhibition from Hong-chan, he asked Mina’s permission to go to the bathroom AGAIN. However, it’s just a white lie.
While Mina’s other half is busy buying women’s accessories, she patiently waits for her husband. As soon as Hong ki arrived, Mina said she was bored at the time he was gone. Hong Ki apologized for it, which actually surprised me because he never said SORRY when he had done the same thing before.
As I mentioned before, Hong Ki couldn’t forget the Kayak incident, which is why he prepared another ‘surprise’ for Mina to show his sincere apology.
Hong Ki’s artistic (?) caricature of his wife might be quite comedic; however, it’s a cover behind a sweet and simple present.
Hong-chan mentioned in the beginning of WGMG that he is a man who has difficulty expressing his emotion. The Kayak incident made Hong Ki grow to be more considerate of his partner’s feelings.
On the other hand, even though her husband’s gift was not that grand, Mina was very thankful for it; she is indeed a woman that treasures the ‘true meaning’ of a gift, not for its price.
If thoughtfulness would be a competition between this couple, of course, Hong ki’s wife would not let herself lose. Mina has also bought her husband a meaningful gift. Even though it’s just a SIMPLE star glasses, Hong-chan was very much excited like a child.
He appreciated it more when Mina uttered her first LETHAL statement. xD
We all know that one of Hong Ki’s hobbies is BRAGGING (just kidding 😛 ), and he likes being complimented. Well, we all like to be complimented, right? Mina is aware of her husband’s personality, since he mentioned it in his ‘love manual.’
“LOVE ME, MORE THAN I LOVE MYSELF.”
Mina’s childish husband knows that he is selfish, and that is why his lovely Mina Noona is there to help him to be more giving! I’m on my delusional mode again! xD
Nevertheless, Mina is also making her words come into reality.
“I WANT TO BE A WIFE THAT COULD HEAL HIS MIND.”
If you guys still remember in Episode 2, Hong Ki showed his wife the awards, which most of them were awarded to him (and the rest of FT Island) in the beginning of his (their) career.
In here, Hong Ki knows the gap of FT Island’s popularity from past to present. I’m not a PRI and I just RECENTLY listened to FT Island’s songs so I’m not very knowledgeable about them. On the other hand, based on what I’ve read in SOOMPI forums, FNC (FT Island’s company) seems to be giving FT Island an unfair treatment lately.
Mina’s husband is very passionate about his career and she’s aware of it. The star glasses and Mina’s LETHAL statement are a reminder that Hong Ki is —without a doubt— a star that will keep on shining.
***
If there’s a Ferris wheel , a couple must ride it in order for the date course to be completed. And thus, our Daramji couple has complied with this cliché. xD
At first, our dear Hong-chan stated that already got an idea of what Mina is like, since they were together the whole time.
He then asked his wife if she knows the things he likes, and she replied in a humorous way.
After Mina had given her answer, it was her husband’s turn; he had given a rather serious answer.
Hong ki, in my opinion, wants him and his wife to be more open with each other. He probably had pondered that their opposite personalities might collide again; hence, being vocal about their emotions is the only way to avoid further misunderstanding. I like the fact that he was directly looking at Mina when he asked her and she just couldn’t look at him. She knows that they’re not just going to have an ordinary talk.
Honestly, I did not expect Hong Ki to start a serious conversation with Mina, because he is known for having a playful personality. I guess Mina also felt the same way that’s why, in the first question, she gave a teasing answer; hence, she was awkward and somehow nervous (?) when her husband asked her questions that quite pressured her.
Nevertheless, we all know that Hong Ki wants to be at least in Mina’s ‘radar’ in order to make their virtual marriage work. Hong-chan gathered his courage to find out his real score to Mina.
I’ve got to give Hong Ki 4 thumbs up in this part because confessing or finding out the truth is very difficult. I remember before, I tried to confess my feelings to a guy I like and it was very CHALLENGING! The TRUTH HURTS and REJECTION feels like you’ve been hit by a bomb made out of dog poopie. xD
Even though he was already prepared to hear his wife’s answer, you could tell that he was nervous. After Mina said that he only got 40 %, Hong Ki let out a laugh that hides his embarrassment or maybe his disappointment.
However, our dear Mina knows how to redeem herself perfectly.
After the confession that boosted up Hong-chan’s confidence, the two continued to talk about their plans to get to know each other more.
Again, I’ve got to give Hong Ki 4 thumbs up for encouraging Mina to speak in Japanese in order to explain her thoughts more naturally. If you guys have seen the behind the scenes of Episode 1, the producer asked Hong Ki why he kept speaking in Korean. HK then explained that his wife started speaking in Korean, and it would seem weird if he would suddenly speak in Japanese. When the producer encouraged Mina to speak in Japanese to her husband, Hong Ki objected.
He didn’t seem very enthusiastic in speaking in Japanese; however, in this episode, he’s the one who is persuading his wife to speak in her native language, in order to naturally express herself.
There are just too many adorable and heart-pumping scenes in this episode particularly their HOLDING HANDS in the Ferries wheel!
It was so lovely and it seemed sooooooo real. They really feel like an AUTHENTIC couple. I don’t know if I have dry eyes or what, but it seemed that Mina was the one who first hold Hong Ki’s hand, which I really love because she’s getting more comfortable to initiate skinship.
***
When Hong Ki chose the serious talk, he and Mina had on the Ferris wheel, as the most memorable moment in their honeymoon, AGAIN, I was surprised. I guess getting to know each other, in a much deeper level, made an impact to him.
While Mina’s other half picked the Ferris wheel moment, our dear Minasun picked their first argument as the unforgettable because it was the first time –according to her—that she had a fight with someone she LIKES.
Hong Ki and Mina’s honeymoon, somehow, became their bridge to learn how to compromise and understand each other’s differences. Though their marriage is only hypothetical, their relationship, in some ways, reflects the ups and downs of a REAL union of two people in love.

Hello again my dear readers! Some of my fellow DARAMJI shippers have been looking forward in reading my entries about our lovely HongMina tandem; hence, I have been very eager to write more articles about WE GOT MARRIED: Global Edition.
The daramji shippers have been experiencing a lot of injustice; therefore, I want to show my support to the Rainbow couple by writing a lot of articles about them. ^^
I really appreciate everyone who had been supportive of what I’ve been writing so far; I really want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. It’s an amazing feeling whenever you make someone happy because of what you do. Making people happy is the one thing that drives me to keep on drawing and writing.
By the way, I just want to apologize if the arrangements of my reviews are not in chronological order. I just write my reviews based on my favorite episodes; so today, I will discuss Episode 9.
EPISODE 9
After a ‘unique’ and amusing wedding celebration, Hong Ki and Mina continued their love-dovey affection, with each other, in Okinawa.
As usual, our dear little Hongstar was late again and his diligent wife was patiently waiting for him.
Although our lovely couple has been comfortable in doing some skinship and has been aware of their differences, both of them are still in the early stages of understanding and accepting each other. Even though Mina already knows that Hong Ki loves flamboyant fashion, she is still a bit astound of his extravagance.
She even questioned his unusual ‘skirt-like-pants’ attire and stated she’s glad that he’s not wearing his ‘strange’ skirt in their honeymoon trip.
Our couple confessed that their honeymoon made them nervous, and Mina said that she didn’t sleep properly; she must be very excited to get to know her husband more. xD
***
While Mina is getting used to her husband’s lavish fashion sense, Hong Ki is also trying to understand her ways; however, he seemed to be having a tricky time grasping his wife’s means of appreciation.
In this episode, their conflicting personalities are starting to reveal themselves. Hong Ki seemed a little dishearten or disappointed when Mina gave her “coupons,” because, in my opinion, he was thinking that the ‘closeness’ that he feels for his wife is not mutual.
On the other hand, Mina’s way of thinking was different; she gave Hong Ki 3 wishes to know WHAT HE REALLY LIKES, as well as to PLEASE him, in a more personal approach and not because she felt some gap between them. Mina’s other-half rarely asks for wishes; as a result, she’s a bit clueless on what are the things that could make him experience the same excitement he felt, when she played ‘Severely’ on the piano for him.
***
When our daramji couple arrived in Okinawa, once again, the weather was not on their side. Hong ki started whining like a little kid, which I think was quite adorable, while Mina was optimistic and was hoping that the sun will shine, at the stunning beaches of Okinawa. In this part, HongMina’s personality really balances with each other; Mina tried to cheer her husband up, who was in a bad mood because of the rain.
***
Finally, after encountering the gloomy weather of Okinawa, Hong Ki and Mina arrived at their honeymoon suite, which gave them an unexpected, awkward surprise. Our couple felt very embarrassed after seeing their bathtub full of petals, making them say the word “야하다 (yahada)” repeatedly.
We all know that our princess Mina is a pure and innocent lady; hence, she became extremely bashful because of the ‘sensual theme’ that their room was giving out. On top of that, she is with her husband, who made it even more nerve-racking; Mina’s heart was probably pounding, as if it would jump out of her rib cage. You could notice that, in order to divert all her nervousness, she kept twisting the pamphlet/magazine she was holding.
Hong Ki, on the other hand, was also shy but still in his playful mode; instead of twisting a piece of paper to deflect his timidity, he teased Mina by saying that his wife is the one who is always thinking of YAHADA things.
After having a bashful moment in the bathroom, Mina’s grip, on her twisted pamphlet, was getting tighter as she and her husband saw the ‘seductive’ heart-shaped flower petals lying on their bed. Hong Ki, on the other hand, was beginning to be more enthusiastic. xD
Our curious groom then lay-down onto their bed and suggested Mina to join him; however, his wife was feeling a bit nervous to do so. Nevertheless, we all know that our dear little bride just allows her other half to take the lead; in a matter of seconds, Mina followed her husband by jumping up and down, on the bed, gently.
Hong Ki’s bashful bride hides her uneasiness by being playful, and while she was busy hiding her wariness, her husband was beginning to be more forward by asking her to lie beside him.
This is actually my favorite part because Mina was very considerate not to stomp on Hong ki’s self-esteem. Usually, when men ask you something (e.g., kiss, hold hands in the public, etc.) and then you reject them, they will forever remember that and will not inquire the same favor/wish again. And besides, playing hard to get are quite annoying to most of the guys these days. xD
Mina couldn’t hide the fact that she was very nervous but she also wanted to be bold. Even though lying next to her husband almost gave her a cardiac arrest, she gathered all her courage and did what she was told. In addition, I noticed this; after Hong Ki told Mina that she won’t have any nightmares anymore, Mina slightly moved her body near to her husband. Maybe Hong Ki noticed this; hence, asked her to go closer to him ‘again’ and then offered his arm for a pillow. This ‘daring’ suggestion made our bashful bride scream out of nervousness (or excitement), which shocked her dearest groom and wonder why she had done that.
Mina might have thought that her reaction must have embarrassed Hong Ki, so she grabbed his arm and finally used it for a warm, comfy cushion.
Mina was still feeling a bit embarrassed; as a result, she made a segue by explaining how she sleeps. After that occurrence, it’s now Hong Ki’s turn to explicate his usual sleeping position; this is the MOMENT that made a lot of shippers squeal like a banshee, Mina’s naughty husband put his left leg over his wife. That scene drove me crazy and I felt like my cheeks were about to explode!!!! xDDD I swear it was blushing like a tomato.
After that intense ‘fan service,’ Mina told Hong Ki was heavy, which made our little Hongstar bashful of his complex. On the other hand, Mina knows exactly how to redeem herself and not offend her husband’s ego; she then offered her petite arms to be Hong Ki’s pillow, and thus continuing their cuddling scenario.
***
If you think HongMina’s fan service stop there, you are certainly mistaken! Our daramji couple finally went to the beach, and even though the weather was not on their side, the two tried to make most of their time. Once again, Hong Ki and Mina switched on their competitive side; Hong Ki was using his cunning tricks to Mina; however, his antics never work on his witty wife.
Lady luck seemed to be always leaving Hong Ki’s side, making him lose the game and show-off his hairy legs.
I remembered in Episode 3, Hong Ki asked Mina not to make fun of his hairy legs; I guess Mina failed to do so that’s why we never really witnessed Hong Ki read a book. xD
You know I’ve been wondering, why did Hongstar ask Mina to shout “Please, let us just love each other,” was he asking for the consent of the world to let him and his wife to be together? LOL xD Forgive me, I’m being delusional. 😛
In addition to their lovey-dovey moments, Hong Ki tricked his wife to give him a piggy-back ride, after Mina suggested in reenacting Song Hye Kyo’s sad, last moments in Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart.
Much to Hong Ki’s surprise, his wife was able to carry him on her back, which made him very excited like a child. Moreover, he was also touched because Mina was able to keep her promise to him.
Instead of whining for being deceived by her husband, Mina was such a good sport, and even though she does not like being outwitted, she let Hong Ki keep the 3 wishes she had given him.
The two finished their playful date, at the beach, by writing meaningful messages on the shells and send it off to the sea, hoping it will come back to them someday. Hong Ki seemed to be expecting his articulate wife to write something very special; however, he expected too much, and thus ended up being disappointed by her simple message.
***
Finally, we are at the last scene of episode 9; Hong Ki asked her wife’s permission if he could wash her face. Since they are married to each other, I think Mina’s husband suggested this action in order to get to know her more, and maybe because he was curious to see how she looked like without make-up on. I think this episode became one of their stepping-stones in getting to know each other intimately.
Letting your partner, see your complexes, is not an easy task; it takes courage and trust to do so. Hong Ki already warned Mina, about his hairy legs, in Ep. 3 because he wanted her to be prepared to accept his insecurity. At first, he wasn’t confident to show his complex, but after the accidental revelation of his secret and seeing Mina isn’t weirded out by it (although she finds it funny), he became at ease to show his hairy legs.
While Hong Ki exposed his ‘manly legs,’ Mina’s panda eyes were finally unveiled by her husband; nevertheless, she insisted that her dark circles were caused by her unremoved eyeliner. This time, it was Hong Ki’s turn to joke about her complex.
Though Hong Ki made fun of Mina’s “cute” dark circles, our little groom admitted that his wife still makes his heart flutter, even if he’s just holding her hand.
Being in a relationship is about accepting your partner’s pros and cons; through this comprehension, a couple can feel more at ease and be more confident in being honest with each other. We all want to find someone who could make us feel comfortable in our own skin.
I’m supposed to make a review of episode 2 of We Got Married: HongMina Couple; however, I decided to review episode 10 instead because it is the reason why I decided to post WGMG reviews in my blog in the first place.
I wanted to make a review of this ep so badly because a lot of people bashed Mina and Hong Ki for the “unexpected event” that happened in this chapter. I felt like I needed to explain both of their sides since it really bothers me when people say bad things about my ship. ><
For those who haven’t watched this, don’t read it if you don’t want SPOILERS! ^^
EPISODE 10
Episode 10 has a lot of memorable Daramji moments, which is why I’ve watched this ep tons of times! Hong Ki showered Mina with a lot of love, which made Mina give our little Hong-chan a perfect 100 points!
Hong Ki mentioned before that he does not do ‘romantic stuff’ but he aims to be ‘close’ to Mina’s IDEAL GUY, so he really tries his best to please his hopeless-romantic-wife to make their relationship click! ^^
Our little groom is a bit a PERFECTIONIST that is why he organized a second ‘wedding event’ for Mina in a church in Okinawa, since the whimsical weather in Korea almost made them cancel their wedding.
However, before they went to the church, Hong Ki’s enthusiastic fans took a couple of his minutes to take some pictures with him, which he was happy to do so. On the other hand, Mina felt a bit left out but she just lets her husband do his thing, because she knows how much Hong ki loves his fans.
Nevertheless, Hong Ki has been very attentive to Mina’s needs and did not want her to feel alienated. I know a bit of basic Japanese so I noticed this, when Hong Ki introduced Mina, as his wife, he used the pronoun “ORE” instead of “boku.”
Hong ki said, “Ore no okusan.” (おれのおくさん。) = This is my wife.
Both ‘ore’ and ‘boku’ are informal; however, the pronoun “ORE” has a more ‘boastful’ or ‘confident’ tone with it, compared to “boku.” Therefore, he PROUDLY introduced Mina as his wife to his fans. Remember, our little Hong-chan LOVES to BRAG. xD

Okay let’s go back to the ‘renewal of vows.’
I noticed something IMPORTANT again. In one of my favorite romantic movies, 40 days and 40 nights, there was a memorable line that popped into my mind when Hong Ki took Mina to his SECRET PLACE.
I was smiling like crazy when Hong Ki said to Mina that the “church” was his secret place. xD Meaning, Mina is not just an ordinary girl in his eyes. Call me delusional, I don’t really care! xD My SHIP IS SAILING VERY WELL! xDDDD haters gonna hate 😛

Anyways, Mina was really grateful to Hong Ki’s surprise, and unlike their wedding in Korea, Okinawa’s perfect weather created a flawless ambiance for their second wedding.
I must give Hong Ki an additional 100 points for making the coral bracelet for his wife. It was a simple, yet a very thoughtful gift; Hong Ki sure remembered that Mina does not like extravagant things. I really like it when people remember those simple-little-details, because it just shows how that person is paying his/her full attention to you.

After the perfect ‘renewal of vows,’ our Daramji couple went to Okinawa World; this is the moment that their opposite personalities collide.
First, the couple took some pictures with a huge yellow snake, which made Hong Ki lost his confidence by using the pronoun “boku” instead of his proud “ore.”
Hong ki said, “Boku ha shashin wo torimasu.” (ぼくはしゃしんをとります。) = I will take the photos.
Our daramji couple’s honeymoon date has been in its smooth pace; everything seems to be normal. On the other hand, little by little, the activities that they’ve been doing are revealing their conflicting likes and dislikes.
Hong Ki is quite a diva, and he likes being around people; therefore, he really enjoyed performing Okinawa’s traditional dance in front of the crowd. Mina, however, felt awkward with the performance and did not really enjoy it but she still made an effort to go along with the activity.
I must give Mina a perfect 100 points for the effort and for not whining, because if I would be in her position, I wouldn’t force myself to do something that I don’t like! Nevertheless, this is Mina we are talking about; since it’s an activity that Hong Ki likes, Mina was very optimistic and tried to enjoy the moment she is spending with her husband; she did not think whether it was an activity she likes or dislikes doing. For her, being with Hong Ki was enough.
Meanwhile, Hong Ki thinks VERY differently compared to Mina. He was more focus on whether the activity was enjoyable or not, while Mina was just fine spending quality time with him, regardless if the activity would be a fun or not; she must have expected that her husband was thinking the same way as she did.
I think this is the reason why Mina was deeply hurt when Hong Ki said that he did not really understand what’s so good about KAYAKING. He even stated in his black room confession that there is nothing really special about it; however, his wife, once again, has a different opinion about it. Mina really enjoyed Kayaking and being ALONE with Hong Ki made it even more special; hence, making her upset because her husband just viewed that moment as bland as white.
Hong Ki failed to read between the lines but was enlightened after Mina explained, to him, why she had a great time Kayaking.
As I’ve watched the WGMG, I noticed that Hong Ki is a transparent person; when he is happy he is happy and when he is upset, he shows his true colors and just tries to laugh about it. He also did not want to be labeled as a liar; as a result, when he was asked by Mina if he enjoyed kayaking or not, he just could not bring himself to lie that he had fun. However, he admitted his mistake and was very depressed about making Mina sad.
Most guys hate having an argument, so I give Hong Ki 2 thumbs up for carefully and courageously confronting Mina (thanks to the assistance of the thoughtful sushi chef) with their ‘kayak predicament.’ In addition, even though Hong Ki does not like doing embarrassing things in front of Mina, he did it anyway in order to make her smile again. ^^
Not every relationship is perfect. There are times that even the pettiest thing could be the root of a massive argument, but these quarrels actually serve as one of the foundations of a strong relationship.
While I still have some spare time, I’m grabbing this opportunity to write on my blog again. Unfortunately but fortunate to fangirls, my article would be a review of WGMG’s episode 1, which is only going to focus on the HONGMINA couple.
EPISODE 1:
I love this episode because I really love seeing the daramji couple’s awkward expression, especially Hong Ki’s. Despite being an idol, he was confused, clueless, and shy upon meeting Mina, making me feel like he was just an ordinary guy.
I admit that I won’t like him that much if he was too confident in his first date with Mina; my perception of him being arrogant would remain in my mind. I guess I should thank him for gaining weight because it made him a bit insecure. xD
Besides from gaining weight, I think I should also thank Mina’s drop-dead gorgeous looks for making Hong Ki more awkward. Based on Hong Ki’s description, of what he finds attractive, our dear Fujii Mina passed it all with flying colors! This just pressured one of Asia’s top-star more and all he could do was snigger out of embarrassment.
Hong Ki did not know his wife, he had no idea who she was even though they already met, and I think this added to Hong Ki’s curiosity. Hong Ki did not expect Mina to be familiar with him, since she’s Japanese. Therefore, when she sang SARANG SARANG SARANG to him, it gave a lasting impression to him; even though she was not Korean, she knew his song and how to sing it; though it was out of tune, in my opinion, this lifted-up Hong Ki’s confidence. Hong Ki is very confident of his talent, and thus he likes to “BRAG.”
But lately, because of his “weight insecurities,” he admitted to be losing his confidence; our little groom has been feeling a bit insecure because of his weight and a person, who could lift his spirits up, is indeed a must.
While Hong Ki is dazed by his wife’s beauty, Mina on the other hand was star-trucked by her groom’s presence. Mina has witnessed Hong Ki’s projects in Japan and she has listened to his songs. The little bride also admitted, in the press conference of WGMG, when she saw Hong Ki, she felt like she had seen a celebrity come out from the screen. However, unlike Hong Ki who felt “instant attraction” to his wife, Mina only thought of him as a little brother rather than a husband.
Regardless of the downside, Mina was willing to find ways to make her see Hong Ki as a man. I liked how she admitted what she really thought of Hong Ki; I really like her honesty.
I also like how Hong Ki controls himself to be very very VERY nice to Mina, but he almost failed in doing so; good thing he came to his senses and apologized cutely to his wife. xD
Moreover, their date might be slow-paced to some, but I really liked it because it gave the “all-natural-feeling.” First dates are expected to be awkward; however, even though HongMina’s date was a bit ill at ease, you could tell that there is chemistry. In the behind the scene episodes, the staff could feel the “KILIG” (shudder/spark) factor that the daramji couple emitted. Even the production team is aware that love is starting to blossom between Hong Ki and Mina.
Okay, it’s been a long time since I’ve written in my blog. I was so busy with my new work. Anyways, this blog is supposed to be about arts and fashion; however, I just can’t resist not writing my thoughts on this show.
I’m sorry to my readers, who expects an entry similar to what I’ve been posting, but I do hope you’ll read this. If you are into Korean shows you might find this interesting (I hope so).
Anyways, this is my first discussion about the WE GOT MARRIED GLOBAL EDITION but I will not give further spoilers because I plan to write a different entry on that one. In addition, I will mostly discuss the Lee Hong Ki and Fujii Mina pairing because they are the pairing that I ship. Even though I also watch the other couple, TeacGui pairing, the HongMina couple is the one that really made me fall in love. xD
For those people unfamiliar with the WGM series, the We Got Married is a Korean variety show that showcases VIRTUAL MARRIAGES between Korean celebrities; most of the pairings are famous Korean idols. However, due to dwindling popularity of the show, the WGM franchise decided to add a different twist to the show, by pairing Korean celebrities to foreign tv/movie personalities. The production chose the couples based on their language abilities, popularity and personalities.
The first couple: Ok Taecyon and Emma Wu a.k.a GuiGui
This couple received a lot of views on YouTube as well as devoted fanatics. Actually, this pairing was the one that brought me to WGM. I don’t know anything about the show but I do have an idea what kind of variety it was. Back to the topic, I’ve seen an article, about this couple, in Jpop Asia and triggered my curiosity, so I checked it out.
The first ep I’ve seen was the wedding photo shoot of the Alien couple. It was very funny and interesting and Kwang Hee’s (ZE:A) humor made that episode even brighter, and since I enjoyed watching that ep, I decided to check out more of the videos and ended up seeing Mina and the rest was history. However, before I discuss the HongMina, I will finish my TaecGui entry.
It is indeed interesting to watch this couple because they rely more on ‘action’ rather than words; GuiGui’s not that fluent in English; therefore, she and Taecyon need to be creative in expressing themselves.
If I would compare the TaecGui couple to a comedy genre, I would say that they are in the “SLAPSTICK” category. This comedy genre is quite amusing. However, if you continue to watch the same antics over and over, it becomes TEDIOUS. The TaecGui pairing, with comparison, gives me the same feeling. I’m sorry to the TaecGui fans but this is how I feel about it.
The Second couple: Lee Hong Ki and Fujii Mina
Like I said before, I was first browsing the TaecGui couple before I discovered the outstanding chemistry of this couple. I already knew Hong Ki because FT Island was the Korean band that got stranded in Cebu. I’m not a fan of Kpop but I like watching Korean dramas but I didn’t care much about Hong Ki; however, when I saw Mina, I decided to watch their part.
I’ve seen Mina before but I just can’t remember when or what show. She’s very pretty but I’ve already seen too many beautiful actresses before so nothing special about her. On the other hand, it all changed when I saw her on her wedding dress! OH MY! She just took my breath away! xD By the way, the first ep of this couple that I’ve seen was episode 6.
I then watched episode 5 to see the beginning of their wedding photo shoot. Hong Ki’s reaction, when she saw Mina in the wedding dress, seemed that he was really smitten by Mina’s beauty. Hong Ki was a bit awkward and he squeals like a girl when he’s feeling giddy, which I think is very cute and I’ve never really seen a guy act so giddily over a girl.
After watching ep 5-6, I watched all of the episodes. The progress of the HongMina’s relationship felt really realistic. From their awkward meeting, surprising first skinship, the wedding photo shoot that further deepen their physical contact and to the romantic confession that triggered the change in their relationship. This show made me feel like I’m really watching a real couple falling in love! Even the viewers on You Tube , who don’t know anything about WGM was confused if it is REEL or REAL.
Furthermore, if I would compare the Daramji Couple into a comedy genre, I would choose STAND-UP COMEDY. I’m a supporter of stand-up comedy in the Philippines and I really enjoy watching that kind of comedy because it has a deeper meaning, it’s more than just comedy, it’s an intellectual delivery of jokes.
Stand-up comedy relies more on words; action is just a freebie to make the piece livelier. It’s the same with HongMina; since Hong Ki and Mina could both communicate in Japanese and Korean fluently, language was not an issue for them, and thus they were able to communicate without barriers and get to know each other thoroughly.
Both of them were very willing to make their relationship work, even though it’s just a pretend marriage, they were very giving to each other. Although there were times that they did not share the same ideas/feelings, who are we to judge? Their imperfection, as a couple, created a reality that made the viewers see them as a perfect pair.
Relationships go through tons of misunderstanding, but as long as the parties are willing to make sacrifices, problems also serve as a foundation for a stable union. When HongMina had their first argument, the two of them did not let the situation go by without a clear resolution; they talked about it and fixed the issue.
Before I mentioned that Hong Ki didn’t really capture my attention, but it was Mina who was the one that really pulled me to watch their episodes; she’s sooo freaking GORGEOUS! xD However, it all changed as I watched all of the episodes. Before I find him bit arrogant but my opinion about him gradually changed.
He’s aware that Mina is not just an ordinary girl; a girl who deserves to be treated well, and thus Hong Ki’s obsession, to be Mina’s IDEAL MAN, instigated him to grow and become less selfish.
His frankness was also the one that made me like him more. I don’t really like goody-goody people; I like seeing flaws because it makes you realize that this person is REAL. Hong Ki does not really care about what people might think about him, which sometimes becomes his downside; however, it is also the factor that makes you TRUST the words he utters (especially in the black room interviews). He made the audience feel that “this is not a show anymore, but a story of how we fell in love.”
While Hong Ki was the bad-boy turned “MINA’S IDEAL MAN,” Hong Ki’s other half, Fujii Mina, is this intelligent, beautiful, elegant, and fragile woman who can be a LITTLE DITZ from time to time. xD
Mina could be very understanding and giving but she could be a little mischievous.
In addition, she also doesn’t like it when Hong Ki tries to outwit her.
The two of them have opposite personalities but they have one thing in common –besides from being competitive—HONESTY. Mina wanted to develop her character through this show; hence, she did not hold back and just enjoy the flow of WGMG. Whenever she was asked if she likes Hong Ki, she’s very brave admitting that the guy, she used to see as her little brother, has already smitten her.
Despite admitting she’s a shy person, she became bold thru Hong Ki’s influence; he was the one who taught her to be more confident with her feelings.
If these guys were just acting that they are in love with each other, they both deserve an OSCAR for deceiving millions of people.
